Chris' version
how we met
the courtship
the proposal
the wedding year
the honeymoon
It was a mild February evening when Chris first walked into my life. It was the LendingTree IPO party (little did I know how much this company would become a part of my life), and Tamara, my best friend from junior high had invited me up to Charlotte to attend the festivities. A group of three walked into the pre-party. One was a woman in a sparking black pantsuit - all eyes turned when they walked in the door to see her. Chig was with them, he was decked out in a full suit carrying shoeboxes full of jello shooters. Needless to say, I didn't look beyond the party facade that I saw. Luckily, he had two guests with him, I spent part of the night learning about this striking woman. Her husband was equally gracious and danced with me, as I knew no one else and he was kind to newcomers. The evening was splendid and I called home to tell my mother that I had made my first friend in Charlotte - Ashley. She was around my age, a mother and in real estate. If I could clone her husband (Troy) I would. It was official, I was ready to move there - equipped with possibility of new friendships and being in the same town as my long time best friend.

The next week I began to receive emails from some guy named Chris - someone I had apparently met at the Party, but whom I could not place. Whoever he was, he was kind enough to offer assistance in finding a local job in Charlotte. I was a bit hesitant at first, but he was persistent and seemed genuinely interested in helping me out. As I was anxious to get off the road with my job, I was open to help from all sides. After a few correspondences I finally called Tamara to help me figure out who Chris was. It was then that she helped me realize that this Chris person was one in the same with Chig - the guy with the jello shooters who kept teasing about poisoning my drink. Ahhhh, the light bulb goes on. It would be some time before I realized that he
wasn't just trying to help me find a job…
